Questions
Why does X count my post as longer than it looks?
X weights characters. Every link counts as 23 characters no matter how long or short it is, because X wraps it in a t.co short link. Emoji and characters from Chinese, Japanese, and Korean scripts count as 2. Most Latin letters, numbers, and punctuation count as 1.
Why is Bluesky’s count different from the character count?
Bluesky counts graphemes — what a reader sees as one character. A family emoji is built from several code points joined together, so a plain character counter sees 7 or more characters, but Bluesky counts it as 1.
What does “truncated after 210” mean for LinkedIn?
LinkedIn accepts 3,000 characters, but the feed shows only about the first 210 before a “see more” link. Instagram does the same at about 125 characters. Your post still fits; just make sure the opening line carries the hook.
Is my text stored anywhere?
No. The checker runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type leaves your device.
